About the Library

PICT central library being information hub provides access to full text, digital and printed resources to support the scholarly and informational needs of the students, faculty, researchers, and other users. The Central Library is well equipped with modern facilities and resources in the form of on-line databases, e-journals, e-books, video lectures, project and seminar reports, motivational, inspirational books, competitive examination books etc.¬ The library follows open access system, which permits the users to enter in the Library Stack Section for browsing and selecting the book. For locating and searching books in the library an internationally accepted classification system “Dewey Decimal Classification” is used. Effective utilization of all resources is the motto of the library. Various platforms for knowledge sharing like training sessions, conferences, seminars, workshops are organized.

Library Sections


Stack Area: Excellent collection of books are available in this section which are arranged subject-wise. For locating the required book, the display of Book Location Charts is helpful.
PG Section: Textbooks and reference books required for Post-Graduation courses are kept here. Comfortable seating arrangement is made here itself for the users convenience.
Reference Section: The Reference Section is located on the mezzanine floor of the Central Library. This section includes all reference books related to the curriculum of the PICT. Books kept in this section are to be referred in the section itself only.
Periodical Section: All the latest periodicals are displayed here. Users will find back issues of periodicals in the same place.
Reading Hall: The facility of Automated Barcode Entry Register System is provided in the Reading Hall. It is having the excellent infrastructure, Wi-Fi access, ample number of charging ports. It is kept open beyond the college timing. At a time 300 students can seat here.
Group Study Area: In this section students can have discussion among themselves or with teachers regarding their curricular activities.
Property Section: Users are supposed to keep their belongings like sack, bag, helmet, etc. before entering the library.

    Timing

    Central Library will remain open from 8.00 am. to 8.00 pm. on all working days. However, Reading Hall will remain open from 6.00 am. to 12.00 midnight on all days.

    A Digital Library being a special library with a focused collection of digital objects which can include text, visual material, audio material, video material, stored as electronic media formats.
    PICT Digital Library is well equipped with latest configuration machines having multimedia facility for accessing the E-resources. Access to various e-resources is available 24x7 to the users.

    How to Find Book?

    Online Public Access Catalog- Web-OPAC

    An OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) is an online bibliography of a library collection that is available to the public. It is an interface of information retrieval system which assist users to access resources of the library using several access points. PICT Library books can be searched remotely on Web-OPAC on:

    Branch Toppers (first five) : 5 additional books for whole semester
    Book Bank (first come first serve basis) : 3 books for whole semester

    Book transaction is supported with Library Management Software – Koha, for which books and Identity cards are bar-coded.

    Find the location of the book using ‘Book Location Chart’ displayed in the library.
    Proceed to issue counter to borrow the book.
    Get the book issued after scanning of I-Card and bar code number on the book.

  • National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.

    PICT has become a member of National Digital Library of India (NDLI) Club. All students and staff members can enroll themselves as members of Pune Institute of Computer Technology NDLI Club.
