PICT IEEE Student Branch

PICT IEEE Student Branch (PISB):

Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT) IEEE Student Branch was established in the year 1988 with an aim of inculcating a sense of technical awareness amongst its student members.

PISB aims to escalate the knowledge of developments and trends in the diverse field of technology by holding two major events every year- Credenz and Credenz Tech Dayz alongside several seminars, workshops, hackathons. Additionally, it is also marked by its Women In Engineering (WIE) chapter, an initiative for the empowerment of women. Another noteworthy feature of PISB is PICT IEEE Newsletter Group (P.I.N.G.). P.I.N.G. is the official gazette of PISB issued bi-annually. PISB has also been awarded with the IEEE Exemplary Student branch Award 2017.

About WIE:
WIE stands for Women In Engineering. The main aim of WIE is to facilitate the global recruitment and retention of women in technical disciplines.
The PISB WIE Student Affinity Group was formed in 2012, and formally inaugurated in 2014.

From the beginning, the group has been highly active, quickly reaching an important position in the PICT IEEE Student Branch. The PISB WIE Student Affinity Group has been regularly involving itself in programs and events which bring about development in the society. The WIE group, along with the support and guidance of the WIE Chapter of Pune Section, organizes events which are beneficial for the overall student body of Pune.

The PISB WIE Student Affinity Group has consistently conducted workshops and seminars for spreading technology literacy.

Under this effort, with the help, support and guidance of the WIE Pune Chapter, members of PISB WIE have visited various rural areas, with the aim of spreading tech literacy. PISB WIE team also conducts various events for women during Credenz Tech Days.

Credenz
PICT IEEE Student Branch (PISB), one of the most active student branches of IEEE, is a proud host of the annual technical event Credenz. It is one of the most innovative technical events held in September each year. It has grown manifold since its inception in 2004, and has made a name for itself as a technical renaissance.

From thrilling competitions to enriching workshops, every bit promises to be a fulfilling experience. Workshops conducted by experts for the budding engineers and seminars conducted by aficionados on upcoming technologies are focal points of the event. The Darrel Chong student activity award by the IEEE headquarters was awarded for the activities conducted specially of Credenz in the year 2015.

Credenz Tech Dayz(CTD)
Credenz Tech Dayz(CTD) is organized by the PICT IEEE Student Branch annually, in the even semester, to coincide with the IEEE membership drive. CTD brings with it a gusto that is portrayed in the form of seminars by esteemed industrialists. These seminars provide a platform wherein the students are exposed to the latest innovations in technology. They also get an opportunity to interact with experts from the industry, thus giving them further insights into and helping them to develop their skills in the technical field.
CTD is also host to a plethora of equally appreciated events like NTH, InQUIZitive, UNRAVEL and NCC.

Special Interest Groups (SIGs):
There are special interest groups related to C Programming, C++ Programming and Web Development specifically for the first year students. Here the students get a hands-on experience of coding and electronics, thus giving them an edge over their contemporaries.

PICT IEEE Newsletter Group (P.I.N.G.):
PICT IEEE Newsletter Group (P.I.N.G.), the official newsletter of PISB, is a biannual technical magazine. An edition of P.I.N.G., Issue 14.1 was published during the Credenz. Over the years, success of P.I.N.G. as a truly professional and insightful technical magazine has risen and has reached overseas as well.
P.I.N.G. is made by a group of zesty individuals, driven by a common purpose of reflecting the youth’s insight on advancements in technology. It showcases a diverse array of topics right from quantum physics to biotechnology thus thrilling readers with its vast expanse of coverage.
P.I.N.G. also provides its readers with a source of inspiration in the form of interviews of reputable people, talking about their achievements, beliefs and their lives. Over the years, P.I.N.G. has been appreciated by students, teachers and technical personnel. The contribution of the authors, the suggestions of the readers and the guidance by fellow PISB members have made it possible for successive P.I.N.G. issues to be recognized as a valuable contribution to the technical society. The members of PISB aspire for P.I.N.G. to be a world-class magazine and achieve new heights in the subsequent years.
