PICT ACM Student Chapter

Association for computing machinery (ACM) is the world’s largest educational and scientific society, uniting educators, researchers and professors. PICT ACM student chapter (PASC) was established in 2011 with a view of fostering technical and non-technical qualities in an individual and helping them to shape their destiny. PASC started off with 4 founding members and in such a short period, PASC has grown to a big student chapter of nearly more than 220 ACM members. Appreciating our endeavour, PASC is awarded as BEST ACM STUDENT CHAPTER in India consecutively in 2018 and 2019.

Preceded by membership drive, the biggest technical and non-technical event of PASC named ‘Pulzion’ is hosted and completed in the triumph of togetherness. This event is followed by different SIG’s, seminars, workshops and competitions throughout the year. With a view to reinforcing women, a different module of ACM women is also started. Every year we impart knowledge to hundreds of students and help them understand how they can contribute to the field of computing science. We conduct several technical events in a year. We nurture the growth of inquisitive minds by providing them with every opportunity to excel in various fields.

We always have the vision to give the best of our capabilities to help an individual to grow in all aspects and also to make ACM student chapter an ideal platform for students.

Pulzion:
Pulzion is grand annual event conducted by PASC which include innovative and interesting technical and non-technical events. Pulzion started in 2014. In a stretch of 5 years, Pulzion has grown to a grand event in PICT. Pulzion’18 included challenging competitive coding events, brainstorming quizzes, mock placement event, real-life auctions and designing events. The well-received competitions catered to competitive coders, networking lovers, circuit designers, creative writers, cricket enthusiasts, TV Series fans and business minds among others. Pulzion’18 had two-day workshop on Ethical Hacking in association with Cybercure Solutions. The workshop received a positive response with the attendees receiving a hands-on experience of dealing with various malwares and their security measures.

ACM-W:
ACM-W supports, celebrates, and advocates internationally for the full engagement of women in all aspects of the computing field, providing a wide range of programs and services to ACM members and working in the larger community to advance the contributions of technical women. With a view to contribute to women and their legendary achievements, PICT ACM Student Chapter, in association with ACM-W India and ACM Pune Professional Chapter, started the PASC-W student chapter in August 2018. The objective of our chapter is to encourage women to attain great feats in technical domain by providing them with a platform to showcase their skills and providing them the necessary resources to enhance their knowledge and help them grow as leading technocrats in the field of Computer Science.

Other Activities:
We nurture the growth of inquisitive minds by providing them with every opportunity to excel in various fields. The chapter organizes seminars and workshops on different domains by speakers who are well-known in their fields, which give students opportunities to learn about advanced research subjects. PASC contains special interest groups(SIG). A special interest group is a group of people working in the same domain. Seminars and discussions are conducted in SIGs. PASC has various domain SIGs such as Machine Learning, Data Science, Block Chain, Competitive Coding, Android Development, Web Development and many more. PASC conducts sessions on guidance on Research Paper Writing.
